The legal structure is straightforward. The owner of the building signs an Authorisation Agreement that authorises Ad Hoc to grant a Licence to Occupy a unit to the Property Guardian.
This differs from a typical short hold tenancy because the guardian and Ad hoc can terminate the agreement with 28 days’ notice. Although we are still required to work within the legislation laid out in the Protection from Eviction Act 1977, no tenancy rights are granted to either Ad Hoc or the Guardian.
